Blood use in ritual...
This is not a practice of mine but the subject has come up on youtube and I find it quite interesting and feel compelled to share my thoughts and feelings. I posted a video response to avalonmoon's "Must I Be A Blood Witch" video on my channel and one of the comments appears to be posted by a witch or wiccan, the first among many I suspect, indicates that it is harmful and dark. I find this quite confusing coming from a supposed worker of magick and here is why...
Within the sacred circle, unseen forces are called upon for assistance and or protection to aid in the work of the witch, walker between the worlds. This very act in itself does still appear to be dark to those that do not understand it. Our tools are the properties and powers of water, salt, herbs and crystals just to name a few. So how could it be that we consider the use of our own blood the life giving force that flows through our veins nourishing our bodies to be dark? I personally believe it is out of fear and ignorance along with the worry that there would be those that would and do abuse the practice. We allow others access to this most precious part of our physical being for medical testing and donating to save the lives of others therefore it makes no sense to me whatsoever that we would purposely deny ourselves the use of this most magickal life giving essence. It is in no way dark, it is life.
I am not implying that this is right or wrong. The witch chooses their own tools that they are individually guided to and that is as it should be. However, it would seem clear that the most powerful tool is one that is not one separate from the witch but a part of them.
I am not condoning anyone hurting themselves in any way. No cutting, slicing or such nonsense. You are a gift to this world, you should always treat yourself as such and great care should always be taken in all that you do as to cause no harm to yourself or others.
Let us remember the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty...it was only a prick of the finger that allowed the manifestation of the spell that caused the entire kingdom fall into a 100 year slumber and it is always love that breaks the evil spells. hmmmm...I think there just may be a few carefully hidden in plain sight truths in some of those old fairy tales.
